Murray has previously co-ordinated first year programs at the University of Western Ontario, focusing on transition and financial issues and has collaborated on numerous student life research products. He has also worked in the area of student career and employment counseling. Murray now lectures nationally on student financial issues and conducts research on student financing, in addition to writing for various financial and educational publications. He has appeared in a number of Canadian publications including: The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Vancouver Sun, The Toronto Star, Halifax Chronicle-Herald, Canadian MoneySaver, Campus Canada, University Affairs/Affaires Universitaires and January Magazine. Murray has also made appearances on Canada AM, CBC Newsworld, CITY-TV's Breakfast TV, MuchMusic, The Camilla Scott Show, BCTV's Money Talks, CTV's Eye on Toronto, and Global News. He has also done numerous interviews on CBC Radio and other national and regional stations across Canada.
